Pastor Freddy & Phyllis Vicks
Pastor Frederick J. Vicks, affectionately called “Pastor Freddy” by everyone who knows him, was born and raised in Danville, Virginia. In 2015, at the age of 64, Pastor Vicks retired as the Senior Pastor of “Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church” in Danville, Va. A church that has just celebrated it’s 100-year anniversary and has a proud legacy. It is also the same church that Dr. Charles Stanley was baptized in as a young boy.
Pastor Vicks has served that church as a Pastor for the past 40-years, and for the past 24-years as it’s Senior Pastor.
Pastor Vicks was a member of the foundation class of “Lynchburg Baptist College”. Which was founded by Dr. Jerry Falwell and is now called “Liberty University”. Dr. Falwell was Pastor Vicks’ greatest mentor and was like a second father to him. Pastor Vicks always kept a close relationship with Dr. Jerry Falwell up until his death. Pastor Vicks also served on Liberty University’s “Disciplinary Action Board” for 1-year.
Pastor Freddy Vicks has served many years as a Sports Chaplain, and realizes the importance of safe weather conditions for players on the field. The following are some of the organizations and schools he has served as a Sports Chaplain.
- Served 14-years for the Atlanta Braves organization, through baseball chapel for their rookie teams as their Sports Chaplain.
- Served 33-years as the Sports Chaplain for both football and basketball teams at George Washington High School in Danville, Va.
- Served 9-years as the Sports Chaplain for Avert University in Danville, Va.
- Served 3-years as the Sports Chaplain for Tunstall High School’s girls teams in Dry Fork, Va.

Pastor Freddy Vicks has also served on the board of directors for other organizations and charities as well. Including 3-years with the American Red Cross, 2-years with Hope Harbor and 2-years with the Young Life National High School Youth Ministry.
Phyllis McGregor Vicks has been married to Pastor Freddy Vicks for over 46-years. They have 2 children and 4 grand children.
Phyllis has worked in the counseling and psychiatric field for over 16-years. Along with balancing a full-time job, she is also a full-time wife, mother and home maker. Often times, being the wife of a Senior Pastor is a full time job in itself.
Phyllis’ kind and generous spirit has helped so many in their time of crisis. From counseling women, to just being a shoulder to cry on. Phyllis also served as a care-giver to her mother, Iva Snow McGregor until she went home to be with the Lord at age 96.
Together, they are a valuable asset to this foundation as volunteers.
